So my '05 CVPI has a nice little knock knock going on... a friend that used to be chief mechanic at a Ford dealership says it sounds like sticky lifters... suggested I put in a can of Wynns engine tune-up in the crankcase, after 500miles, it wasn't helping, so he told me to add another (325ml can I think is the size)... it's still hasn't helped...
My first question is: should I change my oil ASAP? Some people told me that it can burn the seals/gaskets? Second: the fuck do I do now?... how do you clean sticky lifters?

You cant fix a mechanical problem with oil
If its real bad you'll need to take it apart.

The 4.6 isn't known for valve noise issues. If it's a bottom end knock, the knock should change sound on quick RPM change.. see if it does by blipping the throttle.

car doesn't seem like it gonna die on me tomorrow... I might need AA more than AAA at this point...
I'll get a video/sound clip tomorrow (I drove 600km today so I can't get a nice cold engine noise clip). My other question would be: how much $$? I was told noisy lifters could be removed and cleaned? Timing chain tensioner/timing chain/gear would set me back approx.? The other thing is: could I clean/change this myself? I'm not a mechanic, but I'm not an idiot either... I've changed my own tie-rod ends, brakes, rotors, oil, water pump, fuel filter, shifter cable, cleaned out carbs, etc without having to cry about how hard it's gonna be while I watch youtube videos on how-to do it... I've also got a buddy who used to be head mechanic at a Ford dealership (although I ask for his assistance as little as possible since he has major health issues)...
